The control against illegal buildings was held simultaneously in five municipalities on takbiran night (night before Eid ul Fitr in which Muslims reciting praises to God Almighty), Sunday (7/27). As a result, 12 trucks belong to Satpol PP transported the remnants of building debris.

In Central Jakarta, the operation was focused in Tanah Abang and led directly by Acting Central Jakarta Mayor, Rustam Effendi. As many as 200 local Satpol PP personnel were deployed in the operation that was held at 10 PM until 2 AM this early morning, Monday (7/28).

“We controlled Tanah Abang because the area was already chaotic. We will continuously hold operation until they (street vendors) are wary and not return to sell arbitrarily. The wares seized were recorded and sent to Satpol PP warehouse in Cakung, East Jakarta,” stated Effendi.
